Dental Implants: An Unparalleled Tooth Replacement Solution

Dental implants are the gold standard in tooth replacement, as they provide the best stability for restorations while preventing jawbone recession. Dr. Mike Owen has over 25 years of experience placing dental implants, providing patients with the highest level of care. At Toupin Dental and Associates in Novi, MI, our doctors can restore your implants with custom-made crowns and bridges from our onsite lab. As a result, patients can experience the convenience of receiving comprehensive care under one roof.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small titanium posts that are embedded into the jaw as a base for dental restorations. Through a process known as osseointegration, the post fuses with surrounding bone to become a permanent part of your anatomy. A custom crown, bridge, or denture is then attached to the post using a small connector or abutment, for a natural-looking and stable result.

Implant-supported restorations replace the entire structure of your tooth, from root to crown, making them the next best thing to having strong, natural teeth. At Toupin Dental and Associates, we offer traditional implants as well as mini and All-on-4®, allowing us to serve a wide range of patients and customize treatment to each unique case.

A Superior Method

After tooth loss, the jawbone naturally begins to recede. Without the presence of tooth roots, vital nutrients are rerouted to other parts of the body. While traditional restorations restore patients' ability to chew and speak, they do not prevent bone atrophy. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that halts bone degeneration and protects the health and structure of your jaw.

Placing Your Implants

During your initial consultation, Dr. Owen can discuss your implant candidacy and the different options available. He can perform a series of scans and digital x-rays to ensure you have sufficient jawbone tissue for successful treatment. If you have experienced substantial bone loss, you may need to undergo a preparatory procedure, such as a bone graft or sinus lift, prior to implant placement.

After you have healed from any prerequisite treatments, Dr. Owen can place the implants. If you receive traditional implants, Dr. Owen will make a small incision in your gums to access the jaw before embedding the titanium post into the bone. Once the post is in place, he can close the incision with sutures. It typically takes about three to six months for the implant to integrate with the jaw, after which Dr. Owen can connect the abutment. We offer both nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation to ensure you are as comfortable as possible during the procedure.

Our team can often perform every stage of your implant treatment, ensuring you receive the highest standard of care from start to finish.

With mini implants and the All-on-4 method, it is sometimes possible for the implant and restoration to be placed in the same appointment. We typically complete the entire implant treatment, from preparation to restoration, in our office. We even have an onsite lab to fabricate your custom restoration. If needed, we can refer more complex cases to a trusted specialist or oral surgeon for certain aspects of treatment.

Our team believes everyone should have access to vital dental procedures. In many cases, dental implant treatment is not fully covered by insurance. At Toupin Dental and Associates, we accept CareCredit® to help patients manage out-of-pocket expenses. Depending on the situation, we can also make in-house financing arrangements to ensure you are able to undergo the treatment you need.
